Hume and Body is a San Francisco based clothing and textile atelier. This company provides clients with beautiful, distinctive and flattering clothing regardless of era.

Single garments are produced from limited editions of original hand woven yardage and traditional fabrics in natural fibers. Vintage and heirloom textiles, narrow goods, laces, and ribbons are cut and joined to shape the body. Couture techniques are executed with impeccable stitching. Hand dyeing, knitting, painting and other surface design embellishments enhance rather than overtake the garment.

Hume and Body collections, experienced via trunk shows and available through Barbara’s San Francisco Salon are season-less and day into evening with jackets as the pivotal pieces. In addition, one time/one place ensembles are also customized for individuals.

Local designing, weaving, cutting and stitching is the thoughtful attempt to avoid unnecessary waste and employ healthy environmental practices and local talent. Clothing made in the atelier of Hume and Body far surpass the time and process necessary to create them.
